New look for Harrogate/ Knaresborough buses

01-02-2010

There'll be a striking new look to some of Harrogate's buses shortly with a dramatic new livery, new seats and a brighter look inside too.

It is part of an extensive refurbishment programme for the Route 1 buses used on the Harrogate to Knaresborough service.

Our Marketing Director, Nigel Eggleton explained, "It is important our buses look smart and distinctive, especially in an area like ours. Passengers will really notice the difference, both inside and outside the buses. The most striking feature is the distinctive new livery. Our designers have come up with a bold contemporary look for the buses but at the same time it preserves the traditional red and cream colours used by Harrogate & District and the West Yorkshire Road Car Company before that."

"These buses were brand new when we bought them six years ago, so by bus standards they are still relatively young, but we must make sure they remain in tip top condition as our passengers expect the best from us."

The new look buses will gradually be introduced over the next week or so as the refurbishment work is completed and will operate on the Route 1 between Harrogate, Starbeck and Knaresborough.

Nigel Eggleton added, "The new look could well be extended to other buses in our fleet as they become due for refurbishment. We'd be delighted to hear what our passengers think of the new look and if possible we'll take their feedback into account as the new colour scheme is rolled out."
