Sunday Freeway Continues Thanks To Makers Of Slingsby Gin

We have reached an exclusive partnership deal to keep free Sunday services on the road thanks to the world famous Slingsby Gin!

This exciting deal comes as we reveal that our imaginative “Sunday Freeway” promotion, which saw our electric buses providing a free service every Sunday in March, has achieved an impressive 70 per cent rise in customer numbers travelling on four bus routes to shop, dine and relax in the town centre.

Our Harrogate Electrics bus services 2A, 2B, 3 and 6, which link Bilton, Dene Park, The Knox, Jennyfield and Pannal Ash with the town centre, will now continue to be free to use every Sunday, thanks to sponsorship by The Spirit of Harrogate, owners of Slingsby Gin.

Our CEO Alex Hornby said: “This is amazing news for everyone in Harrogate. This welcome funding means we can continue running our free Harrogate Electrics buses every Sunday, which deliver a significant boost to other locally owned businesses in the town centre.

“It's particularly encouraging to be able to count on such generous support from The Spirit of Harrogate – we're both proud to be based in this beautiful town and like us, they fully appreciate the positive contribution these free buses are making to Harrogate's Sunday economy.

“We're delighted to report a 70 per cent rise in customer numbers enjoyed travelling on our Harrogate Electrics buses in March with our Sunday Freeway free travel offer – and now that the free services are to continue, there's surely no better time to leave the car at home, hop on a free bus, relax and enjoy Sundays with all the wonderful things that our town has to offer.”

The Spirit of Harrogate's Joint Managing Director Marcus Black said: “We are extremely proud to play a small part in continuing this wonderful initiative.

“Not only does it provide free transport, which is greener and quieter for our town centre, but it also means people can responsibly enjoy a drink or two in the many bars and restaurants that are on offer.

“We are proud to be associated with this unique town, and this is yet another initiative which helps to set it apart for residents and visitors alike.”

Today's news means free travel for all customers on routes 2A, 2B, 3 and 6 will continue for at least the next four months.
