Knaresborough Bed Race - Saturday 9th June 2012
07-06-2012The 47th annual Great Knaresborough Bed Race takes place on Saturday 9th June!
The famous bed race is now one of the UK's largest community events, with thousands of spectators turning out to watch.
This year 90 teams and their specially-made beds are expected to take part in this part fancy dress-part gruelling race through the steep streets of the medieval town which, as always, ends with a swim through the River Nidd.
Knaresborough Lions organise event, which is all for charity, and this year's theme is Olympic Nations. It's a great family day out so come and join in the fun! The easiest way to get to Knaresborough Bed Race is to catch our Route 1 which runs up to every 7 minutes!
Knaresborough High Street and some other surrounding roads will be closed between 1230 and about 1700, with our Route 1 buses running on diversion as follows:
Routes 1A, 1B & 1C from Harrogate
Buses will run as normal to Starbeck and Forest Lane Head, then diverting via Forest Lane and Forest Moor Road to Calcutt, then via Blands Hill, Briggate and Gracious Street to Knaresborough Bus Station and on to the estates as normal.
Routes 1A, 1B & 1C towards Harrogate
Buses will run as normal from Knaresborough estates to Knaresborough Bus Station, then diverting via Gracious Street, Briggate and Blands Hill to Calcutt, then via Forest Moor Road and Forest Lane to Forest Lane Head, then normal route to Starbeck and Harrogate.
